Meeting in Spain, 22 February 2016, day 1

It was Monday morning and students were gathering in the schoolyard. Excited and thrilled they were finally going to meet their partners in this amazing adventure. With great expectations we were warmly met by the Spanish partner Ana Maria Manzano Piqueras and invited to their technology room. The meeting was about to start.
The headmaster, Juan Jose Pagan Casanova welcomed us, presented the school and wished us a successful meeting.

It was time for the students to present their countries and schools. Hungarian and Croatian students showed presentations and explained many interesting facts. Lithuanian, Turkish, Italian and Spanish students showed videos. They used many different web tools so the presentations were very interesting.

During the school tour we visited the secondary school section and we were kindly invited to participate in some lessons. In the halls we noticed some cozy reading corners and on the walls there are posters about a Shakespeare themed project. The main aim of our project is to promote reading and teachers in this school are doing a great job.

After a short break we walked the short distance to the town hall, which is situated at the main square named Plaza Mayor. We were welcomed there by the mayor Inmaculada Jimenez Serrano, who gave us some important information about Tomelloso and wished us a pleasant week.

We went to see the monuments in the vicinity. On the the main square there is also a magnificent Parish Church Asuncion de Nuestra Senora, built at the beginning of the 17th century.

Across the square there is the oldest building in Tomelloso, Posada de los Portales. The inn was built in the 17th century and it was frequented by travellers and the cavalry until the 1970s. Nowadays it is used as a Culture Centre, mainly for hosting temporary exhibitions, conferences and other events.

It was time for lunch and students returned to their new 'families'. The afternoon was spent making new friends and enjoying a warm and sunny day. The first day of our meeting was at its end and we were happy and grateful to be part of such an amazing adventure.
